Toronto's Joseph Beats Atlanta For 450th Win
Maple Leafs' goalie Curtis Joseph won his 450th game on Tuesday night against the Thrashers.
Joseph got his 449th win by beating Vancouver 7-1 on April 5, when he was a member of the Flames.
"Wins are the most important measure for goalies, I think. Certainly it's a great accomplishment," the 41-year-old Joseph said. "I think I really read the plays well and really focused in. That's been my problem. Sometimes you're only human, and you learn."
Canadiens Win 3,000th Game
Maxim Lapierre scored the final three goals of the game as the Canadiens defeated the Panthers to record their 3,000th regular season victory.
They have the most regular season wins in NHL history.
"There are nights like this," Lapierre said. "There are nights you're alone with the goalie and nothing goes in and other nights where it seems the puck always finds your stick at the right time. That's what happened tonight."
The hat trick was the first of Lapierre's three-year NHL career.
Franchise-Record Ninth Straight For Blackhawks
Dustin Byfuglien led the Blackhawks to its franchise-record ninth straight victory on Sunday night, scoring two goals and adding an assist in a 4-1 decision over the Wild, according to an Associated Press report.
Chicago Wins 8th Straight To Match Franchise Record
Patrick Sharp scored his 19th goal of the season, and the Blackhawks won their eighth straight to match the franchise record, beating the Flyers 5-1 on Friday night, as reported by the Associated Press.
Isles' Guerin Scores 400th Career Goal In Win Over Leafs
Bill Guerin scored twice to record his 400th career goal as the Islanders snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Maple Leafs on Friday, as reported by Yashoo.com.
After netting his 399th career tally 6:27 into the second period, the captain scored his milestone goal 2:34 into the third after collecting a loose puck and depositing it past Vesa Toskala.
?Those goals came at a good time,? Guerin said. ?Everybody kept a good attitude and a good work ethic (during the streak).?
Guerin becomes the eighth American-born player and 79th overall to reach the plateau.
Determined Sharks Edge Rangers 3-2
Evgeni Nabokov wouldn?t allow his teammates to fold, making 17 of his 32 saves in the third period of the Sharks? 3-2 home victory over the Rangers on Saturday night, according to an Associated Press report.
Ducks' Hiller Ties Record With 51 Saves
Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller tied a franchise-record with 51 saves in the team's win over Edmonton on Friday night.
He stopped three shootout tries in the Ducks' 3-2 victory.
"Sometimes it's better to have a lot of shots than just a couple, so it was easy to find my game and easy to be in the game and it felt good," Hiller said.
Sharks Lose For The Second Straight Night
Ty Conklin made 24 saves for his sixth shutout and Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and two assists to lead the Red Wings to a 6-0 win over the Sharks on Thursday night, according to an Associated Press report.
San Jose has the leagues best record (25-4-3), but the Sharks lost for the second straight night.
Sharks Set NHL's Best 30-Game Start
The Sharks passed the 1929-30 Bruins to set an NHL record for the most points, 52, through the first 30 games of the season.
"We like to think that with the good start we had, a lot teams have us circled on the schedule," Ryan Clowe said. "They want to play their best and they are motivated to play us. The Kings played hard. They're not giving up a lot of shots for a reason. They play a good game in their own end."
San Jose also tied that same Boston team for the most wins through the first 30 games with its 25th.
The Kings extended the NHL's best team to a shootout before losing to them for the third time in three tries this season.
Timonen Has Four Assists In Flyers' Fourth-Straight
Flyers' defenseman Kimmo Timonen had a career-high four assists in the team's win over the Penguins, their fourth-straight, on Saturday afternoon.
Joffrey Lupul, Mike Richards, Scott Hartnell, and Jeff Carter scored goals while Mike Knuble added a pair.
Jordan Staal, Eric Godard, and Ruslan Fedotenko scored for the Penguins, who have lost four of their last five.
